Business English has been on increasing demand for several years and professionals with a sound knowledge of the world of business and associated teaching methodologies are coveted individuals.

The LCCIE Further Certificate for Teachers of Business English is an advanced qualification awarded by the London Chamber of Commerce and Insdustry International Qualifications (LCCIE IQ) and is a worldwide recognized certificate. Holders of this qualification on top of an initial TEFL or TESOL certificate are ideal candidates for great many teaching positions around the globe that require versatile teachers who are qualified to teach both General and Business English.

This further TBE qualification is offered in two versions:

Online: Course participants do the course electronically on their own time at their own pace and take the exam at their nearest LCCIE centre. The course includes continual support from a personal tutor and specific exam preparation sessions.

4-day intensive: This takes places over the course of 3 days in our centre in Tarragona, Spain. Day 4 of the course is the LCCIE exam which is taken onsite.
The course includes specific exam preparation.

This advanced qualification can be taken as a free-standing course or as part of the Diploma in Business English.

Qualifications

At the end of the course candidates receive two certificates:

The Anglo Centres Advanced Certificate in Teaching Business English PLUS the LCCIE Further Certificate for Teachers of Business English.

The LCCIEB exam can be taken at any of the examination centres that LCCIE have worldwide or onsite at one of Anglo Centres TEFL centres.

Course Aims

The aims of this syllabus are to enable candidates to develop a basic knowledge and understanding of the Teaching Business English (TBE) profession in order to:

1) Demonstrate an understanding of the professional skills required of the Business English teacher

2) Identify the methodologies that are most effective in the Business English classroom

3) Demonstrate an understanding of the basic business concepts and practices with which the Business English teacher is expected to be familiar.

Entry Requirements

This qualification is intended as a supplementary qualification for qualified teachers of general English, providing them with an introduction to Teaching Business English (TBE). Candidates should ideally be either:

(a) graduates whose standard of English is equal to mother tongue and who already have a basic Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) or language teaching qualification, or

(b) English language teachers whose standard of English is not equal to mother-tongue but who have a first degree plus a formal English language teaching qualification.

For both groups some experience of general English language teaching to adults will be useful, but not essential, as will a limited amount of business English teaching experience.

Course and Exam contents

1 Teaching Business English (TBE) professional skills (eg needs analysis, syllabus/course design etc)

2 TBE methodologies (eg different approaches, classroom management, use of materials etc)

3 Basic business concepts and practices (eg business terminology, letter layout etc)

The examination will consist of 3 Sections: in Section A there will be one extended question on topic 1, in Section B there will be one extended question on topic 2, and in Section C candidates will choose 2 out of 3 shorter questions on topic 3. Candidates may be expected to draw upon related syllabus topics when answering the questions.
